“Quick to Play” Board Games
We at Grail Works love board games. We have upwards of 100+ games in our collection. Most of our games take two plus hours to play. Sometimes it’s a struggle to find friends who want to play that long. Who doesn’t want to play Block Mania for four to five hours? Anybody? No?
Since we’re always on the look out for new games, especially “quick” ones I was excited to see Jennifer Allen’s article over on Review Geek. She provides a list of The Best Card and Board Games for Impatient Players. I would argue that the title is a bit insulting to the casual game player.
I think the title should read “realistic players”. I can’t fault any of our friends who don’t want to spend all day playing one game. Despite my hesitation at the title, there are some good recommendations in the article. And, as she points out, it’s just in time for some Christmas fun.
Christmas is the perfect time for the family to gather around and play a game. What better way to introduce them to board gaming than through games that are quick to set up and play through? Here are some of our favorite options.
Of the games listed, we own and play Sushi Go! and Codenames regularly with our friends. We have even rigged a camera device so that we can play Codenames via Skype. (More on this in an upcoming post.)
The article does contain links to Amazon. I would encourage readers to find a local game store to frequent. In the Grand Rapids, Michigan area I recommend Out of the Box.
What games do you enjoy? Let me know in the comments.
